Page of the Day: Bryson

Bryson is a main character in Gone From Daylight. Bryson is the oldest of the group of halflives that reside at The Lot and thus has become the leader. Bryson has adopted (either through choice or by the choice of the others) an almost father figure-like role within the group. As well as being the oldest at crossover, Bryson has also spent the most time in darkness, approximately 20 years.

The reason that I haven't included any continuations of the story starters is that they were designed to have multiple endings, therefore are likely to provide conflicting information. However, this argument is open to discussion and contribution.

And you are right, Taryn's Song should also be included.

Too bad madbomber's Disposal of Flesh continuations don't count. I really enjoyed them :(

Also, shouldn't Taryn's Song be in that list?

Stories that should be included:

When you are referencing one of the GFD stories then there are some guidelines to follow. You should always use this format:

"The reason every vampire's extra is different, is because it reflects the kind of people we were when we were alive. Therefore, by looking into your psyche, we'll determine what new surprises we can expect to see as your powers manifest themselves." - Tim, Gone From Daylight: The Beauty and the Darkness.

Which can be broken down into: The character who said the quote (if it is a quotation, it is unnecessary to quote Justin as the narrator, only in speech or thoughts), The story name, in full (no abbreviations) and the name of the chapter, with a link directly to the page that the quotation etc. is on. These link should always be in italics.

Unfortunately, that system is integrated into MediaWiki as a feature. There is really no way to add this kind of thing to a WikiDot wiki… Saying that, I will have a look.

I was looking at some pages on Wikipedia, and for the stub, spoiler, etc… warnings, they are able to simply put {{stub}} or {{spoiler}} in the article and it's converted into the warning. I'd like for us to be able to do that too, so that they can be the same on every page.

Sounds completely reasonable to me. So placeholder articles, like Gyro's article just reading "Eugene.", are frowned upon.

Ok, there are some guidelines that need to be followed when building a character page:

  • There should always be a spoiler tag on character pages.
  • The info table should be as complete as possible and located on the right-hand side of the page. The table should be no more than 30% of the total width of the page. If you are unsure as to how to create them properly, then simply use the source of another page that has the correct formatting, such as: Justin. Try and fill in this table as completely as possible, leaving any unknown areas marked with "N/A".
  • The first paragraph of the page (located directly underneath the spoiler tag), should be a simple outline of the character with no detailed information, such as particular events.
  • After this paragraph should be more detailed biographies of what happened to the character during each of the chapters (which should be named using their full name, e.g. "Chapter 11: Born of Fire"). The details about each chapter should be divided up with a sub-heading for each chapter (using the H3 setting).
  • If all of the details relating to the specific chapter events are not complete, then the page should be marked with a stub tag at the very bottom of the page.

If there is anything you guys feels needs discussing about this, then don't hesitate to reply to this post.

Regards,

Infinity
